In-office Cystoscopy
Cystoscopy is a procedure that allows your physician the ability to see your urethra, bladder and ureteral openings through a scope that allows direct visualization. This procedure can aid the physician in diagnosing any problems that may be occurring in these areas such as
o
Strictures-a narrowed opening in the urethra, or prostate for men
o
Tumors/irritation-the bladder is a smooth muscle and nothing should appear on its walls, the physician can diagnose any abnormalities that may be in this area
o
Diverticulum- extra spacing that can form in the wall of the bladder
o
Bladder stones-calcifications that can form in the bladder due to incomplete emptying of the bladder
